Picture the trip north as a line of stations, each a town with its straight-line distance to the resort. Toronto sits 111 km to the south. Newmarket is 66 km out, and Barrie is 40 km to the south-west. Orillia, also to the south-west, is 7 km away. Roads are longer than these lines, so the distance driven will be greater.

Casino Rama Resort sits on Chippewas of Rama First Nation lands, which Gateway Casinos & Entertainment Limited leases and runs day to day. In Gateway's words, it is Ontario's only First Nation resort casino. Gateway calls OLG and Rama First Nation the resort's partners. The casino itself is open 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.
Between the all-suite hotel and the gaming floor lies the Rotunda, just inside the main entrance, where the Box Office is found. The resort also holds the Entertainment Centre, a 5,000-seat theatre with retractable seating. Its current listings are on the resort's own site, casinorama.com.

The floor
On the gaming floor

The night
A night in the hotel
Check-in at the all-suite hotel is at 4 pm, and check-out is at 11 am. Its rooms were renovated in the recent refresh. Up on the 3rd floor, the heated indoor saltwater horizon pool is open daily from 7 am to 10 pm for hotel and spa guests. Adult swim runs from 7 to 8 am and again from 9 to 10 pm.
The Spa at Rama Resort is open daily from 10 am to 7 pm, with appointments recommended at (705) 238-5933. Smoking rooms are available in the hotel, while the rest of the resort is smoke-free outside designated outdoor areas. Guests may bring their own alcohol but may drink it only in their hotel room. Centre Bar, a sports bar in the middle of the casino floor, is open daily from 11 am to 2 am. Couchiching Court Buffet, also on the gaming floor, serves dinner on Friday and Saturday from 4 pm to 9 pm. Both are 19+, and so is Chow Lucky Noodle Bar.

Rules at the door
The gaming floor and the Entertainment Centre are for guests 19 or older with valid government-issued photo ID. A driver's licence, a passport or an Age of Majority card is accepted if signed and in good condition. Guests aged 21 or younger also need a second piece of ID with their name, such as a debit, credit or health card.
Guests under 19 may stay at the resort and use the hotel, the spa, MATCH, ATLAS and The Weirs. The floor, the buffet and Chow Lucky stay closed to them. Cameras and recording devices of any kind are not allowed on the casino floor.

Casino Rama Resort opened on July 31, 1996. Gateway Casinos & Entertainment Limited took over day-to-day operations on July 18, 2018. It runs under a 23-year Casino Operating and Services Agreement with OLG and leases on Chippewas of Rama First Nation lands.
In July 2026 the resort marked its 30th anniversary. That milestone came after a large refresh with OLG and Rama First Nation. The work brought renovated hotel rooms, an expanded spa and fitness centre, and new restaurants.
